Revitalisation of Richterswil Village Centre
A ring of light above the village centre
A custom luminaire in tunable white, rotatable optics, 22 light points on catenary wires – and façades that are allowed to stay dark.
The redesigned village centre called for a formal language of its own: we developed a plain ring of light that hangs freely above the lane and deliberately leaves the historic façades dark. Each rotatable LED module is aimed individually at its surface, calculated to SN EN 13201 and brought down to a minimum of stray light, while the light colour follows the course of the day in tunable white. Because several of the houses are listed, we fixed the span wires and anchor points step by step together with the municipality and the utilities, and had the catenary structure verified structurally by an external engineer. Across three years of project duration we kept the interfaces lean and bridged open stages with temporary solar lighting. The result is 22 custom luminaires – light rings and light bollards – installed in four weeks and centrally controlled via Esave.
