Lighting design is detail work. We give specialist planners what a data sheet rarely contains: a plausibility check, LDT data, sample material and honest statements about lead times. Manufacturer-independent — we recommend what fits the project, not what happens to be in stock.
DIALux and Relux files, standard-compliant design to SIA, EN 12464 and SLG. We check your calculation, provide alternatives with an efficiency comparison and flag critical points (glare, uniformity, maintenance factors) before they become a problem.
LDT files to download directly with the product families — where light data for a luminaire is missing, we supply it on request, including custom lengths of our own brand SANlicht. Samples on request, with a return option. Data sheets in three languages (DE/FR/IT).
We are on site at construction meetings, review commissioning and carry out standard-compliant lighting measurements. What is in the plan should also be there in the installation.
Responsibility for the lighting concept stays with you. We supply data, cross-check calculations and are there when the plan has to prove itself on site. The steps follow our project management by SIA phases.
You send us plans, usage details or an existing calculation. Before we propose a luminaire, we clarify visual tasks, ceiling construction, mounting height and controls, because these boundary conditions decide the selection more than the catalogue does.
We recalculate your variants in DIALux or Relux, and in DIALux evo from version 11 also with the context modifiers of the current standard. We record maintenance factors and reflectances so that the calculation remains traceable if questions arise later.
For every luminaire we propose, you receive the LDT file and data sheet, including for custom lengths and profiles from our production in Aarau. We provide samples for the sample review with the client.
We write technical specifications by function and performance, so that several makes can bid and the bids remain comparable. Your design therefore does not depend on a single product.
For installation we prepare project-specific parts lists and luminaire layout plans and brief the installers. If the site deviates from the plan, we clarify this with you before the luminaires are installed.
Whether the installation achieves the calculated values is shown by the measurement to the SLG guidelines, which we carry out after commissioning. The report, for sports facilities prepared to the requirements of the association, goes straight into your project documentation.
We calculate indoor spaces to SN EN 12464-1:2021. Alongside the required maintained illuminance, it includes a modified value, triggered by context modifiers such as visual tasks of long duration or little daylight. Which modifiers apply belongs in the lighting concept and should be agreed with the client before the calculation. Wall, ceiling and cylindrical illuminance values now appear directly in the tables for each type of area, and we have summarised the other new provisions of the 2021 edition.
We continue to assess glare with the tabular UGR method. We obtain the flicker metrics PstLM and SVM from the manufacturer, while binding limits are set by the EU Ecodesign Regulation 2019/2020. We design sports facilities to SN EN 12193, traffic areas to SN EN 13201 and outdoor workplaces to EN 12464-2, a new edition of which was published in 2025. We verify energy demand to SIA 387/4. Melanopic targets are set at the request of the client, not by the standard.
Whether a refurbishment receives a ProKilowatt grant is decided in your design. Indoor lighting qualifies if the specific electricity demand is below the ProKilowatt maximum value, halfway between the limit value and the target value of SIA 387/4:2023. At the same time, illuminance levels may exceed the values of EN 12464 by no more than 20%, verified by a signed measurement report. Generous reserves can therefore cost you the grant.
New buildings and replacement buildings are excluded, as is public street lighting. Sports facilities and outdoor workplaces under EN 12464-2 remain eligible, provided the upward light output ratio (ULOR) does not exceed 0.5%. The other funding criteria for lighting refurbishments are set out in our article. We prepare the energy verification and measurement report so that they can be carried over into the application.
In Küsnacht, overall coordination between designers, installers and the other trades lay with us. We met the requirements of the international ice hockey federation for broadcast quality with 65 light points at an unusually low mounting height. We documented homologation and lighting measurement to the federation requirements.
Here, light was part of the practice concept from the start. For each room we manufactured a dedicated LED profile and cut it to the ceiling sails, niches and furniture edges, in the product niche even to the arch of the shelves. The profiles sit flush beneath the ceiling, so the light edge stays clean at transitions too.
