New light for the SBB's 8'370 m² workshop hall
A refurbishment without any intervention in the existing installation. The 432 light-line inserts run on the existing DALI control and were installed in three weeks.
At the SBB Rail Technology Center in Hägendorf we renewed the lighting of the entire hall without touching the existing infrastructure. The 432 new light-line inserts are integrated into the existing DALI control. The lighting design to SN EN 12464 and the energy verification to SIA 387/4 were both done in house. We then assembled the luminaires exactly as the electrical contractor needed them and enclosed a separate parts list for every axis. Everything arrived pre-palletised in project packaging. That kept packaging waste low, and nobody on site had to search for material. The whole hall was converted within the given time window. We sized quantity and output to the actual demand: the hall now manages with 21 % fewer light points, and energy demand falls by 130 MWh. Every light-line insert can be repaired and easily cleaned of dust, so the installation stays maintainable over its entire lifetime.
